At the age twenty-one I convinced a close friend not to commit suicide. I had always had a compassion for those in mental torment. Four years after this occurrence I graduated from Laurel University, Cum Laude, with a double major in Counseling & Biblical Studies.
I led a suicide prevention campaign for over 5 years, with over 100 people choosing life, and facilitated numerous workshops for non-mental health professionals on how to help their peers with mental afflictions.
For 15 years now, I've had the pleasure to walk a counseling journey, professionally, with numerous people. Time and time again I have watched people walk in freedom and take back ownership of their lives, thoughts and behaviors.
Since high school as a peer mentor, service club leader, and groups facilitator I've been giving advice, offering supplemental perspective, and voicing concerns that I discerned.
I've traveled to multiple countries for cultural reconciliation and ministry, and worked for several years as a child advocate. I've written numerous curriculums geared toward growth and improved quality of life.
For 15 years now I've mentored and counseled kids, teens and marriages and it's been incredibly fruitful.
I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan with
Christian Education and a double minor in Intercultural Studies and International and Community Development.
The main catalyst to our thoughts is information received. We experience hundreds if not thousands of stimuli through our 5 senses everyday. The alarm going off, the smell of coffee, the contents of emails and social media on our phone, news sources, interactions with friends and family, music, fresh clothes out of the dryer; the list goes on.
In order to efficiently and effectively change your mental, emotional, and relational health, you need to take an extended period of time and scale back the amount of stimuli coming in. Additionally, you can begin to increase the health of what you receive by allowing it to be more, “natural.”
The smell of fresh rainfall is more natural then air freshener or a candle. The gaze into a crackling fire is more natural than watching a youtube video. The rooting of your feet in cool grass is more natural than a comfortable shoe or fabric. Connection with creation reduces anxiety and inflammation. Wilderness Therapy combines a drastic change in pace with the tranquility of the outdoors, and the technique of the counseling office. This creates a weekend experience that realigns the heart and mind into an asset for all your relationships.
While on the trip you’ll learn how to develop your mindset for each day, process and heal from your past wounds and traumas, and enhance your courage to pursue the life you desire. You will experience this through a true connection with the Holy Spirit, establishing a healthy understanding of yourself, and applying the right personal boundaries with current relationships.
Each trip can be curated to meet your needs and comfort level, from a relaxing stay in a cabin, to the exploration of a hike and camp. Experiences can range from 1-3 night commitments, and a financial commitment can be $300+ and includes food, resources and accommodations.
In Office Sessions take place at our High Point, NC location. Your session is held in a comfortable and relaxing residential location that is beautifully renovated to meet your counseling needs. Although there are exceptions, most clients average about 10 weeks of counseling before finding themselves ready to live the life they desire. Since no one person is the same, the process of being equipped to deal with life is a little more multi-dimensional than it is linear. However, and in no specific order, here is what you can expect to cover:

When ability, transportation, circumstance, or location prohibit you from in person sessions, we offer the convenience of virtual sessions via zoom. Once your session is booked, you will receive a zoom link to your meeting.
Everything you can expect from an in person session will be made available via zoom, but please make sure you have a reliable connection. Sign on to your meeting 5 minutes early to detect any technical issues with sound or video.
Some prefer an approach that allows them to process thoughts and information without the pressures of physical social interaction. Others, a communication method more relevant to their current culture.
For this reason we have made available text sessions so that you can receive mental health care from the comfort of your tablet or phone.
